• About Us

  • Dr. Michael Weinberg

“I’m honored that you’re considering my practice for your family’s orthodontic and oral health needs, and I look forward to helping you smile for many years.” – Dr. Mike

    Friendly, down-to-earth & fun
“I would describe Prairie Orthodontics as passionately friendly, down-to-earth and fun for the whole family. I like getting everyone involved in the process and presenting all the options for treatment. I believe in efficiency, keeping treatment on time and completing treatment with fewer appointments. I hope to give my patients happy, healthy, well-functioning smiles and bites that also meet their cosmetic and esthetic needs.”

    Sharing the latest with colleagues
“My membership in various professional associations allows me to learn and share the latest, most effective orthodontic techniques and technological advancements, so my patients can enjoy the greatest available benefits.”

Continuing education for the most advanced patient care
“I’m good at explaining the most complex issues in plain English, and I believe in giving my patients the benefit of advanced treatment using the latest technology. I am constantly taking continuing education classes to offer my patients the best treatment options available using the latest technology.”

    Giving back to the community
“When I was young, I was very fond of being around my father and his orthodontic practice. Today, I most enjoy giving children and adults confident smiles and building their self-esteem. Communication is the key. My staff and I also make a point to volunteer for and participate in as many community activities, especially dental health activities, as possible. We also have a custom sport mouthguard program.”

    On a personal note
Dr. Mike spends his free time with his son, Scott, and daughter, Lauren. An adoring father, Dr. Mike loves to attend his kids’ sporting and music events. He also likes traveling and attending independent film festivals, playing tennis and working out. Dr. Mike is originally from Long Island, NY and is the youngest of four siblings.

  • The Team

  • Denise - Appointment Coordinator

I help patients to set up their appointments with Dr. Mike. I also help them to sort out financial contracts to get them started with their chosen treatment plan. If necessary, I translate for our Spanish-speaking patients and parents. I’m a certified dental assistant and have one year of training in orthodontics too.

We all work very hard to make every day a success at this office. It really pays off when I see our patients achieve a super smile! But when I’m not at work, I most enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

  • Erika - Clinical Assistant

I am an assistant to Dr. Mike , I have been assisting in the orthodontic field for 20 years. I will help you throughout your treatment. I love getting to know my patients, it is my favorite part of my job.

I am married, my husband Mike and I have 3 cats Payton (who was in our wedding) Gino and Princess. I enjoy reading going camping and 4wheeling. I am a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan and my husband is a Sox fan. There is always a baseball game on from April through October in our house.

  • Jackie - New Patient Treatment/Financial Coordinator

I take care of all new patient exams and file insurance and financial information. I’ve been at the office with Dr. Weinberg since 2010 and started in the dental/orthodontic field in general in 2004. I strive to keep on learning about my profession and continue to attend continuing education and seminars. Working with people and seeing the amazing results of their treatment are my favorite parts about this job.

I’m married with  two kids ages 6 and 12. We have one doggy and we all love eating Mexican food at our favorite restaurant, Chipotle!

  • Kathy - Financial Coordinator

As the Financial Coordinator, I verify new patient insurance and set up financial contracts with patients at the beginning of treatment. I also process all insurance and patient payments. Part of my job includes making sure all patient financials are up to date. When the front desk is busy I help answer phone cells and check patients in and out.

I have been in the orthodontic field for 4 years working in the administrative area.

This office is filled with caring people who strive to make patients happy. It is a pleasure to work here and watch our patients succeed with their treatment.

My husband, two daughters and I live in Lake County. We enjoy going out to eat and seeing plays. I love summer when we can be outside, talking walks in the forest preserves.

  • Laura - Clinical Assistant

I enjoy spending my off time with my family. Getting all the family together is the best. We love finding new and exciting adventures.

  • Laurie - Clinic Manager

I’m the office’s “jack of all trades”, so to speak. I oversee the clinic, patients and staff, act as a treatment coordinator, and assist at the front desk. I’m a certified orthodontic assistant and take continuing education classes to further my education. Dr. Mike and our staff are a fun and happy bunch; we laugh a lot and joke, but we always get the job done right.

I live in Lake County with my family, Patrick, Dharma, Lila, Dade, and our dog. I enjoy running, am active in Girl Scouts, and am a part-time rock star at all other times!

  • Megan - Clinical Assistant/Lab Technician

I am responsible for providing outstanding care for our patients. You will first meet me during your records appointment, where we will complete diagnostic records. I explain everything about how treatment will progress, and make sure patients are clear about what will take place during your current and future appointments. I am also the whitening specialist for the practice. I started as an orthodontic assistant in 2006. Over the years, I've learned creating relationships with our patients and getting to know their families is definitely my favorite part of the job. I also enjoy spending time in the lab, since I find making retainers quite relaxing!

I love spending time with my family and friends and going on vacations. I enjoy going on walks with my German shepherd, Zoey. I used to compete in boxing and still really like it. My hobbies are photography and finding new DIY projects to do on Pinterest!
